Just to clarify how Canada is governed.  Canada only has one Prime Minister his name is Steven Harper, then each province has a Premier.

Ontario's new Premier is named Kathleen Wynne and sadly she has stated that supports the Liberal Party Line that brought in BSL.

Here is a recent response from our new premier on a letter just recently sent. NOTE that she refers to her and her partner having two dogs at one time.

Dear Name withheld due to request.

Thank you very much for writing me, and taking the time to participate in this important conversation.

Molly and Buster, our “twins”, were fantastic companions.  I truly enjoyed all of the privileges of being a pet owner - the unconditional love, the greetings after a hard day’s work and the daily walks.   I also enjoyed the responsibilities of pet ownership, and that included ensuring that our dogs were well trained and didn’t pose a risk to public safety.

Ontario Liberals made the decision to restrict pit bulls. After a series of horrific accidents around the province, we decided that the interests of public safety would be best-served by restricting that particular breed.  My position is that repealing this legislation would be a step backwards.   I hear your concern and I know that this legislation has presented challenges for some dog owners, but I believe that all Ontarians want what is in the best interests of public safety.

All the best,

Kathleen

So we know that is standing by BSL.  Again, we are taking measures to again put pressure on the Liberal Party to repeal the ban.  We are currently working on several projects to this endeavor, but it looks like a new election may be forthcoming, and VOTES alone for the liberals to lose seats and there power is the only way at this time

This means that those against the ban need to get political and get involved and get out and vote. We are assured a new bill will be re tabled, however we do not know when

Taki list otrzymałam w nocy nie ma szans :/

Pepsi - po wyczerpującym szkoleniu...http://dogomania.pl/galeria/p/62889/

Leave those pit bulls alone | National Post -- [There is no proof that pit bulls are more dangerous than other types of dogs.]
According to Dr. Julie Gilchrist of the U.S. Center for Disease Control, a leading researcher on dog bites, "If anyone says one dog is more likely to kill — unless there is a study out there I haven’t seen — that’s not based on scientific data."

Will bsl make our city safe?
Absolutely not. BSL is only a mask for a much bigger problem that has not been adequately addressed thus far. BSL is not the answer for the following reasons:
  • Responsible owners will suffer harsh financial and emotional penalties.
  • Criminals will target a new breed to act out there illegal activities. You may recall in the past some popular breeds were the Doberman Pinscher and the Rottweiler. These breeds were constantly in media headlines. Now all we see is “Another Pit Bull Attack!” Unfortunately, the media seems more concerned with ratings than actual facts.
  • BSL does not prevent animal abuse including organized dog fighting.
  • BSL does not restrict criminals from owning “dangerous breeds”.
  • BSL does not prevent irresponsible owners from obtaining breeds which require special training and daily social activities to curb high energy levels.
  • BSL does not consider the individual temperament of each dog but rather unfairly groups them by breed. When breed cannot be determined the dog is judged by appearance not temperament, which is called “blanket legislation” and easily compared to racial profiling. Racial profiling is illegal, therefore when compared to BSL we might say the foundation on which BSL has been based is illegal as well. BSL enforces the legalized slaughter of thousands of good, friendly dogs.
  • The only way to ensure your family’s safety is to practice early education on bite prevention. BSL will not teach your kids how to behave around dogs, that’s your job!
  • Any dog can bite. BSL only breaks hearts.

Dog gone: Mark Buehrle’s pit bull not welcome in Ontario

Published Friday, Nov 16, 2012 at 2:18 pm EST
Text size A A A
This is a story about a boy and his dog, and a crazy baseball trade and even nuttier law.
Mark Buehrle isn’t exactly a boy at 33, but he does have a childlike love for his dog. Slater is a 2-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier.
Jamie Buehrle, wife of new Blue Jays pitcher Mark Buehrle, poses with Slater, their American Staffordshire Terrier. The Buehrles are welcome in Ontario; Slater isn't. (AP Photo)
He’s gentle enough to have been trained as a therapy dog, the kind that visits sick kids and elderly. Slater may be welcome in hospitals, but he’s not welcome in Ontario.
He’s considered a pit bull, the all-encompassing term that can be boiled down to one word:
PANIC!
Needless panic, actually. Despite their reputation, pit bulls aren’t any more vicious than poodles. But image is everything, so Ontario has banned them for the past seven years.
Problem is, the Miami Marlins traded Buehrle to the Toronto Blue Jays this week in a massive salary dump. If you think the fate of one rescued mutt could never jeopardize a multimillion dollar deal, you don’t know Buehrle.
He is Michael Vick in a parallel universe. The guy would give his left arm for man’s best friend.
Buehrle hasn’t said what he’ll do, but we know what he did in Miami. Dade County also outlaws pit bulls, so Buehrle lived in Broward County. He and his wife, Jamie, started a drive to end the ban.
“We found out our family wasn’t welcome in Miami-Dade County because of our rescued dogs,” Jamie wrote. “Slater is a pit bull. We were lucky enough to be able to buy a house outside Miami-Dade County so we could keep Slater. Many families aren’t as fortunate, and they love their dogs just as much.”
It’s one thing to commute from Fort Lauderdale to work. Buehrle can’t realistically live in Buffalo to avoid the province-wide ban.
What he should do is show up in Ontario and dare the dog police to take Slater away. A high-profile act of civil disobedience might spark some needed reform.
Like a lot of people, I used to get a little spooked at the sight of a pit bull. I’m still no expert, but it seems everyone who is thinks pit bull laws are bogus.
The American Humane Association, the Humane Society of the United States, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and the U.S. Center for Disease Control have come out against breed-specific bans.
So have the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association and the Toronto Humane Society.
The American Kennel Club recommends pit bulls as ideal family dogs. The American Temperament Test Society gave American pit bull terriers an 86.8 pass rate. That was better than 148 other breeds and above the 82.8 percent average.
The problem is about 99 percent of the time the press treats pit bull attacks like shark attacks. The National Canine Research Council tracked media coverage of dog attacks over a four-day period in 2007.
A Labrador mix attacked a man and got one story in the local paper. A mixed-breed fatally injured a child and got two stories in the local paper. Another mixed-breed attack on a child got one story in the local paper.
Two pit bulls attacked a woman’s dog. It generated 230 newspaper stories and was covered by cable news networks.
No wonder Slater refuses to talk to reporters.
Politicians do, of course. The also have been known to pander to the public’s wishes. Fortunately, some have seen how the facts don’t support the hysteria.
Maryland rescinded its ban, so did the entire country of the Netherlands. Ontario is trying.
“We know that breed-specific legislation doesn’t work,” Parliament member Cheri DiNovo told the CBC. “What we have now is cruel. It’s resulting in the deaths of family pets.”
Animal right groups say thousands of dogs have been destroyed. Nobody knows for sure, but everybody knows what the real problem is when it comes to attacks.
It’s not the dog. It’s the owner.
There’s no doubt Buehrle is a model one. He has three other dogs besides Slater. When he pitched in Chicago, he started “Sox for Strays.” Once a month before a game, sheltered animals would be brought to the park where they could meet fans interested in adoption.
When a stray was found wandering the street with an arrow sticking out of its belly, Buehrle paid the $3,000 medical bill. He loves dogs so much he can’t bring himself to forgive Vick.
“He had a great year and a great comeback,” Buehrle told MLB.com earlier this year. “But there are times when we watched the game, and I know it’s bad to say, but there were times where we hoped he’d get hurt. Everything you’ve done to these dogs, something bad needs to happen to these guys.”
Are you convinced yet the Buehrles really love pooches?
There’s still a chance commissioner Bud Selig could veto the trade. There are rumors the Blue Jays just want Buehrle as trade bait for younger pitching.
If neither happens, he’ll probably end up having to find Slater a good home. I’d rather him take the dog with him to opening day.
Everybody could see there’s no need to panic. The Baltimore Orioles are a much bigger threat to Toronto than pit bulls will ever be.

Pitcher's dog banned from Ontario, wife stays behind in U.S. to care for pet

Posted: Feb 17, 2013 3:51 AM Updated: Feb 17, 2013 4:24 AM
Mark Buehrle won't be experiencing the dog days of summer.
While the pitcher is headed to Toronto, his family will split the season between Broward County in Florida and their home in St. Louis. One of their four dogs, Slater, is a mix of American Staffordshire terrier and bulldog - and Staffordshire bull terriers, American Staffordshire terriers and American pit bull terriers are banned in the province of Ontario.
"He's an awesome dog," Buehrle said Saturday. "That's what's a shame; just the way he looks is why we have to get separated."
Sent to Toronto as part of the Miami Marlins' payroll purge, Buehrle had a few options. He could have left Slater with friends or placed him in a kennel. The Buehrle family also could have moved to Buffalo or somewhere else on the U.S. side of the border, forcing the pitcher to commute 90 minutes each way to Toronto.
Buehrle's wife, Jamie, 5-year-old Braden and 3-year-old daughter Brooklyn will spend time with the 33-year-old left-hander during spring training, as will Slater and their three vizslas.
"It's something we're going to deal with," Buehrle said. "It's going to be tough at the beginning, not seeing your kids, but people deal with it and we'll make it work."
Buehrle concluded responsible pet owners should not delegate to others the task of caring for a dog. And he said he wouldn't break a law by taking a dog where it is prohibited.
"We've had people say, 'Oh, you can bring them up here. Knowing you have money, no one's going to take your dog because they know you're going to fight against it,'" Buehrle said. "But the thing is, Slater will have to sit in a cage until that court date gets there, and that could be two weeks, it could be three months. If people don't own dogs, they're not going to understand you're leaving your family and your kids behind over a dog."
Buehrle said his family will travel to Toronto for occasional visits.
"It's not like we're not going to see each other," he said. "But we just feel like with all the training and all the stuff that we've done with the dogs, it's better that they stay with my wife."
After going 161-119 during 12 seasons with the Chicago White Sox, Buehrle agreed in December 2011 to a $58 million, four-year contract with the Marlins. The team went on a spending spree as it prepared to move into a new ballpark, but a terrible season caused owner Jeffrey Loria to shed stars.
Buehrle was traded in November along with shortstop Jose Reyes, right-hander Josh Johnson, catcher John Buck and outfielder Emilio Bonifacio to the Blue Jays.
None of the Marlins' players had contractual provisions allowing them to block trades. Buehrle issued a statement in November, saying "I was lied to on multiple occasions" by the Marlins.
"I let it be known how I felt, and I wasn't happy," he said. "I felt like we took a leap of faith there, coming there without a no-trade clause, and we felt like we'd be there a long time."
Buehrle said Marlins President David Samson reached out to him.
"I had nothing to say. I told them I wasn't in much of a mood, and that they wouldn't like to hear what I had to say," Buehrle explained. "I didn't have much interest in talking to them, and I don't have any plans now to ever talk to them again."

BOB WAS A PIT BULL
By Ryan S Browning

Bob was a Pit Bull. He was my best friend.
Dad brought him home when he was twelve weeks old.
He came from a list of Grand Champions.
His daddy used to win a lot of shows.

As Bob grew older some neighbors got scared.
They said Bob would bite someone.
My friends all play with Bob.
When he grabs their pants leg, they don't care.
They know he is just hav'in fun.
I like to take him for walks and train him with treats
and at night he sleeps under the covers, right by my feet.
Bob stays at home while I am at school.
That is mom and dad's rule.
Dad said to never let Bob run loose
and mom never forgot about Bob eating her shoes.
The man on TV said all the Pit Bulls have to leave.
He wanted to take them all, and have them put to sleep.
He said a little boy was killed by a Pit Bull tied up
in his neighbour's backyard and all Pit Bulls are mean.
If that Pit Bull was tied up, maybe his life was hard
and he didn't have anyone to love him like Bob has me.
Every day after school we like to play and we have a lot of fun.
People said he would turn on me, but Bob didn't want to hurt anyone.
He could climb a tree and hang there all day.
He likes to chase me around the yard,
I even taught him to sit and stay.
Please God, why did you let them take Bob away.
They passed some kind of law, it's called BSL,
because they believe a Pit Bull is bred to attack.
Bob never hurt anyone;
but, Dad said, Bob may have to leave and never come back.
We can't afford to move, because of his job and the money.
Mommy gave me a hug and cried and said I'm sorry honey.
I ran to my room with Bob at my heels.
I made him a promise as a pup I would love him for years.
As I lay crying on my bed, Bob kissed away the tears.
Then the day came and they took him away.
I vowed then and there, he would never be replaced.
Dad and Mom said they would get me a new dog.
One not deemed vicious, by some stupid law.
I told them, no dog could make up for Bob!
Why did they listen to that man on TV?
Bob was a gentle friend, who would never hurt a flea!
That man was wrong! Bob would never turn on me!
They said because of mean and cruel people, all Pit Bulls like Bob,
must go to jail where they are given a shot to put them to sleep.
Then an Angel would come and take them to heaven for God to keep.
I cried all night for the loss of my best friend.
How could the man on TV be so heartless to small kids like me?
I know in my heart Bob is now gone.
I feel him watching and waiting to be by my side.
He can't see the real problem, can someone tell me why?
It's not kids or people like me,
who miss their dog while at school,
or the ones who use dogs like Bob, for search and rescues.
It's people who torture them, starve them,
beat them, that's what must end!
They are the reason my dog is dead Mr. Bryant;
But, instead, you killed my best friend!
Just because some people don't look after their animals,
I had to lose my one and only companion.
The one I loved with all my heart.
Why don't you go after the ones who are mean?
If you want to help, that's where to start!
Stop killing innocent puppies, sending them to heaven's gate.
Stop bullying the innocent.
Quit throwing around your weight!
Instead do what most government people have forgotten how to do,
do the right thing, look at the truth!
Pit Bulls like Bob, are not the threat,
for the threat lies in ignorant people like you!
